1-1 Play Therapy
Individual work with children aged 3 to 14 years:
- Following a referral process and parental consent, play therapy takes place weekly, over an agreed period, in the same room, at the same time.
- Sessions are between 30 and 50 minutes, depending on the age, developmental stage and needs of the child.
- The confidential space is equipped with the play therapist’s ‘toolkit’, providing a range of toys and creative media. This may be in the client’s school, or at an agreed, suitable setting.
- A short term therapy period is twelve weeks. Where the client’s difficulties are more complex or their needs are higher, longer term play therapy may be recommended.
- Towards the end of the therapy period a review meeting is held with the referrer and parent/carer. This enables a decision as to whether to extend or end the therapy.
- A confidential written report is provided at the end of the therapy period, outlining progress and recommendations. If required, interim reports may be written for an additional fee.
